Designing your Heirloom

Every Still Speaking™ Heirloom Journal is created one choice at a time. This isn’t a quick “add to cart” purchase, it’s a slow, thoughtful process where you select the size, textiles, monogram, and details that feel like you (or the one you’re gifting it to). On this page, we’ll walk you step-by-step through how it all comes together, so that by the time your journal arrives, it already feels familiar, like a sacred place waiting to hold your prayers, stories, and legacy.

Design Proof:
After you place your order, I will email you a simple rough draft of your monogram and layout for approval before I begin stitching. Proofs are usually sent within 24 hours (Mon–Fri), and no later than 2 business days during busy seasons.

How checkout works”

Start with Step 1 (base journal), then add your options from Steps 2–9, then checkout once.”

Step 1

Choose Your Journal Size

Begin by selecting the size that best fits the way you write:

  • The Signature Journal 7" x 9" – Beautiful for daily journaling, prayer, and letters.

  • The Legacy Journal 8" x 10" – Ideal for longer entries, keepsakes, and added photos or documents.

Your size choice sets the foundation for all other design details.

Step 2

Choose Your Textiles

Your journal is fully covered in fabric—inside and out. You’ll choose textiles for each part so the entire piece feels cohesive and intentional.

a. Doors (Outer Covers)

The “doors” are the outside panels that open to reveal your journal.
Choose from curated upholstery fabrics and textiles that feel substantial in the hand and are meant to last. These doors represent both Jesus as the Door and an open door to your faith and story to your loved ones.

b. Journal Face (Inner Book Cover)

Next, choose the fabric for the journal face, the board that holds your writing pages.
This can match your doors for a seamless look, or contrast them for a bold, layered design.

c. Door Lining (Interior of the Doors)

Finally, I will provide a fabric lining for the inside of the doors that will coordinate with your selection.

Step 3

Choose Your Monogram Style

Choose Your Monogram
Your monogram is the signature on your heirloom—the mark that says, “This story belongs here.” Choose from classic, interlocking, or ornate antique-inspired styles:

  • Interlocking Monograms by Anamored – timeless, elevated, crest-like designs

  • 1, 2, or 3 initials – simple and classic (ex: K, KH, KHM)

  • Full Name Monogram – a personal, gift-worthy statement

  • Bespoke Monogram by Anamored – custom designed just for you

We size and place your monogram to suit your fabric and journal size for a balanced, heirloom finish.

Step 4

Choose Your Thread Color

Thread color is where your journal quietly changes mood. You can choose a soft, whispering tone that blends gently with your fabric, or a bold, regal shade that stands out like a seal. Think of it as the “ink” on the cover, gold for royal and timeless, ivory for understated elegance, deep navy or charcoal for classic strength. Whatever you choose, we match your thread to your textiles so the monogram looks intentional, refined, and worthy of an heirloom.

Step 5

Choose Your Latch Style

Your journal doors are finished with a functional, decorative latch.

  • Select from available latch styles—from simple and clean to more ornate and vintage-inspired.

  • Each latch is chosen to complement your fabrics and monogram, and to keep the doors closed over what you’ve written.

Step 6

Choose Your Embellishments

Embellishments are optional finishing touches, buttons, brooches, charms, and accents hand-stitched to add personality without overpowering your design. Choose what speaks to you, and I’ll place it with a light, heirloom-worthy touch.

Step 7

Choose Your Bookmark

Your bookmark is the small touch that meets you right where you last stopped. With this step, you’ll choose the style of ribbon or bookmark and, if you’d like, an embellishment to finish the end.

Charms may be simple and symbolic—a tiny key, a cross, a heart, an initial, or another meaningful shape. Sewn or secured by hand, they add a quiet hint of sparkle and significance each time you open your journal.

Whether you prefer something very understated or a little more decorative, your bookmark and charm are chosen to coordinate with your fabrics and monogram, so even this tiny detail feels thoughtful, intentional, and personal to your story.

Step 8

Choose Pager Edge

Every Still Speaking™ journal is made to be written in—often and over many years.

  • Each journal includes 220 writing pages.

  • Choose your preferred paper style if options are shown (lined, unlined, or guided, when available).

All pages are archival-quality so your words can be read by future generations.

Each edge imparts a unique personality to your journal, so choose the one that resonates with your vision.

Our journals are filled with 70 gsm / 100 lb, acid-free paper, a thoughtfully chosen weight that feels substantial without being stiff, ideal for both daily writing and long-term archiving.

Step 9

Send Your Personal Forward

To complete your journal, you’ll add your own words to the beginning.

After placing your order:

  • Enter your foreword in the fields provided by typing it in or uploading a file.

  • If you’re unable to do either, email your foreword to me at info@stillspeakingjournals.com

  • Please include your order number in the subject line so I can match your words to your journal.

I will print and install your foreword inside the journal, so whoever opens it in the future begins with your voice and your heart.
